Sprinter van vs mini coach: which is right for your group?
The single most common question we get from new groups: which vehicle should we book? The answer is rarely just headcount—luggage, venue access, and itinerary all matter. This guide walks through the trade-offs so you can request the right vehicle the first time.

Headcount is the starting point, not the answer
A Mercedes Sprinter passenger van seats up to 14. A mini coach starts at 24 passengers and goes up to 36. If your headcount is 16, you’re a mini coach—but if your headcount is 13 with significant luggage, you may still want to step up.
We always confirm the right size when you describe your trip; if a Sprinter doesn’t fit your bags or your route requires a coach for elevated seating and a wide entry, we say so.
Luggage capacity matters more than people realize
A Sprinter is excellent for executive groups with carry-ons. For a wedding party with full-size suitcases for a destination weekend, the same headcount may need a mini coach with luggage bays.
Sports teams with gear, trade-show groups with displays, and tour groups with overnight bags often need to scale up by one vehicle class.
Venue access can decide the vehicle for you
Some New Jersey estate venues and Manhattan rooftops can’t physically receive a 36-passenger coach. We pre-check venue access and right-size accordingly.
Hotel motor courts almost always accept a Sprinter; mini coaches usually fit but require the bus loading entrance.
Cost is rarely linear
A larger vehicle costs more per hour but consolidates multiple cars into one chauffeur and one fuel bill—net cost is often lower for groups of 12+ that would otherwise need two SUVs or vans.

Frequently asked
- Can I split my group across multiple smaller vehicles?
- Yes—and sometimes that’s the right call (e.g., bridal party in a Sprinter and guest shuttle in a mini coach). For most use cases, one larger vehicle is simpler.
- What about a stretch limo for the same headcount?
- Stretch limos hold fewer people for the footprint and offer less luggage flexibility than a Sprinter. Most modern executive and wedding groups choose Sprinter or mini coach.
